This can lead to changes in the spine and muscles of the back.

Manual therapy, Chiropractic, works on stimulating the sympathetic nervous system,, which can increase skin conductance, respiratory rate, and heart rate.

Chiropractic also produces hypoalgesia by affecting the PAIN processing centers and increasing the pressure pain threshold.

So what did the researchers find when Chiropractic was added to Exercise to help treat back pain

When looking at the treatment from the first treatment to the 8th session. Results showed a SIGNIFICANT improvement in the patients who had spinal adjustments versus the group that just had exercised.

The results showed that spinal manipulation reduces PAIN and improves FUNCTION. Both physical and mental components of the survey done by the patients showed improvement

However what I found interesting is that the quality of life improved immediately in the Chiropractic group, and after 12 weeks, BUT, stopped after cessation of care. In the exercise group, when exercise is given, shows long-term improvement.

This can explain why, if this has happened to you, you go get treatment, and when you feel like you are out of pain and stop care, it can be frustrating that the pain comes back. I always talk about lifestyle and habits. Every Sunday on our social media stories, we post a habit reminder to help you make better lifestyle choices so you limit the chances of the pain coming back
