What is Manipulation? An updated Definition.

The new definition of manipulation is

A SEPARATION (gapping) of opposing articular surfaces of a synovial joint, CAUSED by a force applied perpendicularly to those articular surfaces, that results in CAVITATION within the synovial fluid of that joint

What are synovial joints ?

Synovial joints are the MOST COMMON type of joint in the body. They are usually freely mobile

what is the function of the synovial joints ?

The synovial joints allow the articular cartilage (that cover the ends of bones) to act as a LOAD BEARING , LOW FRICTION and WEAR RESISTANT surface to facilitate JOINT MOVEMENT

Why is Manipulation important ?

When the body becomes fixated , it can cause

- Pain

- Dysfunction

- Degeneration of spine
