Can Low Back Pain Trigger Headaches? Exploring the Connection.
Probably 4 out of 5 patients that walk into my clinic come in with either lower back pain or headaches, but are they linked and what does the science say
The DID identified that there was a POSITIVE association between persistent lower back pain and primary headache disorders
Low back pain and headaches are the LEADING cause of DISABILITY worldwide
The most common headaches are Migraine and tension-type headaches (primary headaches) and this one is upsetting- the third most common is Medication OVERUSE headache ( a secondary headache)

The primary headaches affect 10% of the world's population- given that we just ticked over 8 billion people worldwide- that is over 800 million people!
4% of the population take time off work because of low back pain-
This is where I love being a chiropractor
Research has shown that Chiropractic is effective in both headache management and low back pain management - and every case is different- some might feel results after 4 visits or 12 visits etc BUT before you go to the expensive, risky method of surgery , it could be beneficial to speak to your local chiropractor about what could be done to help you manage your pain!
