Efficacy of Chiropractic Treatment in Post Surgical continued low back pain and Radicular Pain.

Mulholland in 2008 concluded that abnormal movement of a degenerated segment may be associated with back pain but is NOT causative. The concept of instability as a cause of back pain is a myth

A 2016 study by Gudavalli, Olding, Joachim, & Cox (2016)

Found at surgical decompression of the lumbar (lower back) spine had a 24% re-operation rate. It also found that there was an increase in complication risk WITHOUT improved disability or reoperation rates.

It also shows that the adjacent spinal segment next to a fusion has Degeneration in 50% of the cervical( neck) and 70% in the lumbar spine 10 years after.

Another study Found that 81% of post-surgical chiropractic patients showed a greater than 50% reduction in pain levels.

A 2-year follow-up showed over 78% had continued pain relief of greater than 50%
