COSTAL PAIN SYNDROMES

With so many patients having colds/Covid, we are going to discuss different syndrome

COSTOVERTEBRAL JOINT DYSFUNCTION Pain usually lateral to the spine, usually along the rib and is usually a deep, achy dull pain

COSTOCHONDRITIS - most commonly in upper ribs, one sided and may have a vitamin d deficiency

INTERCOSTAL NEURALGIA- band like pain around the chest

INTERCOSTAL STRAIN- upper back or rib pain, usually localised to the length of the rib and many people have recently overexerted

SLIPPING RIB SYNDROME most commonly lower ribs and may hear a popping or slipping sensation. May have abdominal or chest pain
