Ginger for Joint Pain Relief: A Natural Alternative Worth Exploring

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a flowering plant found primarily in Southeast Asia that has been utilized as a spice and in ayurvedic medicinal practices. It is typically consumed as a whole root, in extract powders, and as herbal tea .
Eastern medicine has utilised ginger to address various ailments, including cold, nausea, fever, headache, and gastrointestinal issues
Ginger has been researched and found to provide anti-inflammatory effects by
-inhibiting macrophage and neutrophil activation,
- decreasing the pro-inflammatory cytokines that upregulate cyclooxygenase enzyme-2 isoenzyme (COX-2) expression, (the same process that NSAIDS are trying to achieve)
-decreasing Nuclear Factor-kappa β (NF-κβ) and Protein Kinase B (Akt) that promote cytokine gene expression
What did a 2025 research study find?
