  • The correlation between spinal ligament biomechanics and intervertebral disc degeneration

The correlation between spinal ligament biomechanics and intervertebral disc degeneration Aging is primarily related to biomechanical changes to the LF.(ligamentum flavum) IVD-degeneration is related to a relevant reduction in stiffness and ultimate strength of the LF and ISL&SSL(interspinous ligament, supraspinous ligament), with a similar trend for the ITL (intertransverse ligament) The ligamentum flavum is essential for maintaining an upright posture, it helps to preserve the normal curvature of the spine and helps to straighten the spinal column after it has been flexed The interspinous ligament is essential for limiting flexion by restricting the separation of the spinous processes of the vertebral column The supraspinous ligament is essential for maintaining the upright position of the head We have been helping our community for over 10+ years with their muscle and spinal problems. • Rehabilitation Roadmap: How Physical Therapy Can Help Older Adults Recover from Hip Fractures

Rehabilitation Roadmap: How Physical Therapy Can Help Older Adults Recover from Hip Fractures Hip fracture is a leading cause of profound morbidity in individuals aged 65 years and older, ranking in the top 10 causes of loss of disability-adjusted life-years for older adults. Worldwide, the number of people with hip fractures is expected to rise significantly due to the aging population and other factors. Physical therapist management is recommended within medical, surgical, and multidisciplinary clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) and is considered to be the standard of care in rehabilitation for people with hip fractures. Physical therapists must provide structured exercise, including progressive high-intensity resistive strength, balance, weight-bearing, and functional mobility training, to older adults after hip fracture. Clinicians must provide opportunities for additional therapies if strength, balance, and functional deficits remain beyond 8 to 16 weeks after the fracture. The additional therapies should include strength, balance, functional, and gait training to address existing impairments and activity limitations, and fall risk. Physical therapists may use electrical stimulation for quadriceps strengthening if other approaches have not been effective.
